Honorary Palme d’Or for Marco Bellocchio

Cannes will present Italian director Marco Bellocchio with an honorary Palme d’Or on the closing night of the festival, a tribute to his “unique œuvre that has marked contemporary cinema with force and freedom.”

Bellocchio will also present in the festival’s Official Selection, “Marx Can Wait”, the Italian filmmaker’s attempt to understand his twin brother’s suicide at the age of 29. A family tragedy that he has never really recovered from, both a source of guilt and inspiration.
